Proposed for the FY26 Capital Improvement Program. District Five. $1,000,000 requested; $1,000,000 recommended by the resident advisory board; $1,000,000 in the Mayor's budget.
Official description: Repair the aeration system and do a complete dredging of the sediment at the bottom of Liberty Lake to improve the water quality of the lake and Red Butte Creek downstream of Liberty Park (and in turn the Jordan River), and improve user experience and the health of flora, fauna, and park visitors. It will also significantly reduce regular maintenance costs and obligations associated with regular failures and closures, and will reinvigorate recreational uses of the lake.
