A property owner is requesting zoning map and general plan amendments at approximately 1800 S 7200 W to expand the Landfill Overlay District to include the site and change its future land use designation from Light Industrial to Landfill. The petition will be reviewed through the city's planning process.

Official description: Zach Reynolds, representing the property owner, Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation, is seeking approval of zoning map and general plan amendments for the property located at approximately 1800 S 7200 W. The proposed zoning map amendment would expand the Landfill Overlay District (LO) to include the subject property within its boundaries. To maintain consistency with the Northwest Quadrant General Plan, the applicant is also requesting to update the property’s land use designation in the plan’s Future Land Use Map from Light Industrial to Landfill.

Public comment is open until December 18, 2026.
