A property owner is requesting to rezone about 1.62 acres (7 parcels) near 2475-2493 E 1700 S from MU-2 and R-1-7000 to MU-3 to allow retail, commercial, and office space plus 19 townhomes. The City will review the petition, and a different but similar zoning district could be considered.

Official description: Zoning Map Amendment for Lamplighter Square at Approximately 1629 South Foothill Drive / 2475–2493 East 1700 South — Jon Galbraith, AIA, Principal at Element Design Collective, on behalf of property owner TP Lamplighter LC, is requesting approval from the City to rezone a combined total of 7 parcels (1.62 acres) at the above listed addresses from MU-2 (Mixed Use) and R-1-7000 (Single-Family Residential) to MU-3 (Mixed Use). If approved, the applicant intends to develop the site with retail, commercial, and professional office space, 14 for-rent townhomes, and 5 for-sale townhomes. Currently the land is used for a mix of commercial/retail and single-family residential purposes. Although the applicant has requested that the property be rezoned to the MU-3 (Mixed Use) zone, consideration may be given to rezoning the property to another zoning district with similar characteristics. The subject property is located within Council District 6, represented by Dan Dugan.
